TCenter Teleworking is a project partially sponsored by National Information Technology Council of Malaysia (NITC) under the DAGS initiative. This project which initially started in June 2002 at Desa Tun Razak and later at Bangsar is aimed at assisting women, unemployed youths and pensioners to use ICT skills and knowledge to earn income through teleworking.

And now it has been established in Seberang Jaya to assist the Northern Region community under the National Roll Out Plan. Tcenter.com.my provides a location for teleworkers to announce their services and for employers to offer specific work to be done online. This web portal is designed to be user-friendly and functional so as to encourage all sectors of the population to participate in teleworking.

The TCenter is designed as a virtual office comprising 30 units of Intel Pentium IV computers linked to a server. The center server is connected via ADSL, high internet broadband line to facilitate speedy, uninterrupted and efficient operation of teleworking.

Teleworkers will be able to access their electronic files, automated job management and software applications. They will be able to communicate with their employers via e-mail, facsimile, telephone and courier service. The teleworkers will work in a comfortable environment. The center is carpeted, fitted with air-conditioners, and other equipment.

The employers will be invited from the public and private sector. The type of work at the TCenter will begin with:

2. Surveys
3. Marketing
4. Online booking
5. Proof reading
6. Type setting
7. Word processing

And other easy types of telework before we advance to knowledge-based tasks such as:

For this early phase employers invited, will be SMEs, Hotels, Tourism Industry, Publishers, Airlines, Transportation companies, Local Government Authorities and others. Only Teleworkers which has been trained to deliver work with quality, speed, efficiency and accuracy will be given the task.
